Red kites were nearly extinct in the UK and a reintroduction programme, that began in 1989, has been so successful that we see red kites every where and in greater and greater numbers.

The winter flowering heather brings a touch of colour to the overcast day and a rose survives, swaying in the frigid wind
And there are a few red berries on the bush out front. Fodder for the birds
Did the light ever get bright? Not that I noticed on my afternoon walk or just now at the end of a damp day.
