On bridges, on lampposts, on railings – simple everywhere knitted red poppies to remember those who fought in two world wars. These ( below ) also appear around the town. They are tributes to those who served many of whom never returned. War is bloody and awful and, sadly, we are not learning the lessons of history.

Yesterday morning the geese were swimming in the pond. This morning they are preening themselves in the apple and pear orchard
