The children requested sour cream cake for the forthcoming festival. This was made to a recipe that my much-missed mum used to make. She had taken the recipe from her friend Mavis (also now departed).
I opened my battered recipe book and there was mum’s writing on a piece of paper I had stuck in the book. My heart ached.

I feel the same. The one where they used to let the milk drip in a muslin bag and make the cake from the rich sour cheese, with a soft sweet pastry base? They don’t do ’em like that nowadays!
That sounds good. This sour cream comes from Waitrose! We had lovely Mothers
How very true Gillian! My grandfather’s and father’s recipes have another taste when I read the recipe with their handwriting 😭🥰Envoyé de mon mobile
