Such a special morning – 80 years after VE Day

The u3a walking group traversed the fields and made a pilgrimage to Tempsford Airfield, Gibraltar Farm where the barn houses mementoes from the SOE (the special operation executive) where brave men and women set off during the Second World War to fly into occupied Europe – often sacrificing their young lives.

Russians and Poles, too, embarked on these dangerous missions. Many of them lost their lives
