Such an extraordinary sight

I just went outside to turn on my car engine and a barn owl flew past me, circling around and then chased by two crows. I ran in for my phone. It was hard to see what was happening but it continued into a tree in the corner of the garden. Just then a red kite flew above me and a squirrel ran down the trunk of the ash tree. In such a glorious world I despair for all those throughout the world (and I mean the world, Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Myanmar and Israel and Gaza and so many more places ) where human beings do not have the time or space to turn their gazes to the beauty of Nature. A friend’s father was imprisoned by the Nazis and he spoke to her of how he peered through the wire fence and took joy in a yellow dandelion. He survived.
