The good news and the bad news

The vets have just been to inspect Yardie (he is only walking on three legs) and SJ (Spot Junior). They think that Yardie has a high up fracture and NOT a dislocation. They have splinted the leg snd will return to check him out in a fortnight

As for SJ (who, like Dotty last year, is failing to thrive) there is no obvious cause. We will continue to try and feed him but we are unlikely to be successful. So we will just love him and keep him comfortable until his inevitable demise

  1. Hope the lamb with the broken leg recovers ok.

Regarding the non thriving lambs you have had, how many generations of this line have been fathered by your ram? It may be the result of inbreeding, so if you got a new bloodline in, there may be an end of this problem?
    Just a thought .

I turned my cows all out this morning -much charging around and excitement. Little Violette has not yet calved, so we decided some exercise and fresh grass might hurry things along a bit!
