No country does ceremony and pageantry like Great Britain – it was impeccably choreographed and performed from beginning to end

Grandson was in Hyde Park beside one of the canons

He and his dad stood from beginning to end. They even met people they knew in the huge crowd. We are all, in the actions we take however large or small, part of history – each soldier’s step, each person queuing for hours, each letter written or words of condolence entered in a book. Together it adds up to an event that will forever bind us together, possibly inspire us, make us believe that people and communities and countries and the world can be united in peace and for good. Why not?

  1. Hello Gillian. You can be proud of today. What an emotional moment. I am still in front of Sky News screen. I asked not to be disturbed today. Amazing crowd stunning atmosphere what a lesson for everyone: fidelity for a person who did her job so well so long. Seems unusual today.
    Lots of love.

  2. We can but hope your words will be true! I watched the funeral on and off, at work and then when I got home. Even though it’s sad, what pageantry. Now a new era begins…
