Up early before the sun is too high in the sky

Chores done, weeding the leeks (until the bees decided I was too near their hive) and more watering. The butterflies are already flitting around the flowering herbs

  1. Sorry wrong ID on your brown butterfly. This is the Gatekeeperwhich is slightly smaller, more flitting in its flight and doesn’t settle so readily. It has more orange on its wings and only emerges in mid July. I saw several this morning as well – one of my favourites.

Have just retreated inside out of the heat. Busy few hours behind me. All waters filled up and I gave the cows another two big tubs so they have five waters now! Should last them until this evening. Checked the bullocks and topped up their water (they had settled happily again after their 15 hour walk-about Channels End on Friday nights – bad boys). Did a load of washing and hung that out. Picked yet more soft fruit. Now collapsed with a coffee .

How was your fast day? I did think of you as it got hotter and hotter.
