Three Unbelievable things to believe before breakfast!

Such “fat” sheep are all having phantom pregnancies
Surely someone must lamb soon
Nigel is on the milking platform and thinks he’s a goat
Or maybe he’s just waiting for me to bring Willow in here to milk so that he can have his morning cup

But the third, and most horrifying, thing to believe are the messages I am receiving from Kiev and Lviv where dear friends and communities live that I know and love. A friend in Kiev has just booked her flight out with a heavy heart and great reluctance. Our beloved Jewish community in Lviv is preparing to take in refugees moving from the east trying to find safety for families. What is going on in 2022? Have we learnt nothing of the horrors of war and displacement (which, sadly, we watch all around the world) and is now on our doorstep in Europe. An unbelievable event which I must think about as I bury my head against Willow’s flank and carry on my daily tasks.

  1. Phantom sheep pregnancies. How many are actually pregnant then? So sad what’s happening in Ukraine. Hard to believe this can still happen in 2022. Have we learnt nothing?

  2. Yes, really horrifying what is likely to happen in Ukraine. Even if invasion doesn’t happen the threats will really disrupt their recovering economy as so many expats are leaving, and presumably a lot of Ukrainians as well.

Sure most of your ewes will lamb in next few weeks. Are they developing udders yet? As some are older girls their abdomens will have stretched from previous pregnancies so they do get wider each year.

Faye and I are off to Wilden to join one of the protest walks which are happening at midday a Ross north Bedfordshire against the proposed routes of the East West railway north of Bedford. It was widely advertised on Facebook but possibly you haven’t seen it. I expect you are being visited by family today but you are welcome to join us if you are free.
Hope the rain holds off until the walks finish!
