The cabbage white butterflies have laid their eggs on the previously healthy Brussels sprouts plants. The eggs became caterpillars and they have munched (and continue to munch) through the Brussels plants – decimating them

You need to keep a really close eye on brassica plants and rub off the eggs which are laid on the undersurface of the leaves. And then patrol regularly and remove any caterpillars to prevent such an infestation – in all your spare time! Good job for some of your volunteer helpers next spring maybe.
