An unexpected pleasure

No – not the mildly unpleasant lateral flow test (which was negative) but

The more than an hour that I spent in mum’s room chatting away and, yes, laughing too. We discussed the beehives and mum wanted to know how many bees are in the most productive hive. She shuddered when I told her there were 60000 bees just in one hive. We talked about all of mum’s grandchildren and the great grandchildren. We talked about dad and one of his accountancy partners of whom he was very fond (in their retirement they used to lunch together once a week and mum and I wondered what on earth they could have found to talk about. We will never know). I showed mum a photo of our cousin’s five month old grandson. We both agreed that he is quite gorgeous and definitely takes after our side of the family!!! It was a truly happy afternoon and, as I wheeled mum back to the lounge, I stopped to talk to two ladies who were playing kalooki in the hallway. I told them that I had spent hours playing kalooki with my grandma (mum’s mum) in my childhood and teens. I got home to find three hens perched on a gate

Quite a few raspberries to be picked and rain beginning to fall.

  1. How lovely to have such a good visit with your Mum. She obviously has ‘good’ days at least!
