The weight of water

Rain is falling and some of the asparagus ferns cannot take the weight of the water and are keeling over

This is what happens when we have finished cutting asparagus. We leave the plants to grow and become ferns and produce seeds

When the ferns go yellow and die off we cut the plants back and all the goodness will have gone into the plants, producing a stronger, heavier crop next year

I hope the rain goes away before our lunch guests arrive – it’s good old British summertime
