Bees everywhere – I’m getting obsessed with identification and I sent two photos to

a friend’s husband who knows a lot about bees. I’m grateful to have received a reply this morning.

He says this is a garden bumblebee, Bombus hortorum. It has a long head and the longest tongue of any British bumblebee.
This is most likely a Common Carder bumblebee, Bombus pascuorum

I’ve been filming more bees this morning – click below

  1. You should join the Bedfordshire Natural history Society!
They have monthly meetings (in normal times!) and an excellent chatty Facebook page where people are always sending in their photos for ID’ing.
