I didn’t have time to check out what they were while all the guests were here but this morning I asked Dr Google. It seems as though they are baby spiders – mama spider (Araneus Diadematus) lays 300 – 800 eggs in the autumn and they form a bundle, staying together until they are big enough to go their separate ways.
