On March 16th 1190 the entire Jewish Community of York was wiped out in a horrific Anti Semitic attack at Clifford Tower – just one of a number of such atrocities that took place across Mediaval England at this time.

One hundred years later, in the reign of Edward I in 1290 all the Jews were expelled from England and were not permitted to return until the time of Oliver Cromwell, 350 years later.

The zoom meeting tonight was addressed by a mediaval historian as well as the chairwoman of the present day Jewish community of York.
