What a day

It began early, as usual, J seeing to the animals and the milking and me baking a plum cake and choc chip cookies (they disappear, where?) and watering the pots and baskets before the sun was up in force. Then a picking of 12 kilos of plums – 10 Kgs to sell and 2 Kgs to take to London alongside other goodies.

Called in to see grandson and daughter on the way to mum. They got apples, eggs, french beans, cucumbers and potatoes. Then it was a visit with mum who was on good form

She was thrilled to see her grandson and his two babes. The care staff got a big box of plums – they deserve our thanks and gifts. We can never repay their kindness

After that it was a quick delivery of jam and fruit to mums erstwhile neighbour. Aged 98 she still looks like Dolly Parton’s sister. She is quite amazing but has been confined to her flat for too many weeks to count. She is a wonder.

My next to last call was with my brother and sister in law who were eating lunch in their garden

Brother (the Fabulous Micky C – on YouTube and rehearsing at The Gables next week) played me one of his new songs.

I finally arrived home after a petrol pit stop and a shopping restock at Sainsbury, Biggleswade. So glad to be home at last.
