This little Silkie hen has gone broody in the run. Each night we pick her up and put her in the hen house. Tomorrow Jeremy will give her a clutch of eggs to sit upon

Legacy of a misspent childhood

My lifelong addiction to sweets saw me sitting in the dental hot seat this morning awaiting a second bone graft around my dental implants. This evening it hurts like h….. but when I think of the 60 plus years of pleasure this might be a price worth paying. The jury is out. Here at The Gables we are expecting rain and high winds tomorrow

Time to batten down the hatches
We weeded the onion and leek bed yesterday and, while I sat around feeling sorry for myself this afternoon, Jeremy weeded the carrots and parsnips.
