
But as we walked towards the goose pond I spied a creature caught in the sheep netting – a dead creature that was not there yesterday.

She was probably out hunting (the geese?) and she managed to tangle herself up in a rope attached to a life ring that we keep beside the goose pond. The noose tightened around her neck and she was dead by the times we spotted her. I don’t want foxes to kill our birds but I mourned the loss of a perfect, young vixen.

Oh sad! One of her siblings was killed by a car on New Road a few weeks back. They did well to survive on their own while so young, as normally cubs are still in a family group playing by the den in July.
I wonder what happened the the parents of these two cubs.
