King’s Parade, at the bakery where Henry set up a charge account 50 years ago for their chocolate and mint cake. See if Jeremy ever had some in Henry’s rooms at King’s?
I wasn’t the first person to open a charge account there: when I asked if it was possible, they immediately replied, “Oh, yes, we had another American gentlemen in here in 1953 who opened one – we still have the book right here.” – upon which she reached under the front counter and brought out an old ledger, which she opened to a fresh (if you can call something that old ‘fresh’) page and immediately started my account. What a great time I had at King’s!
