Happy Birthday dear daughter

Remarkably you will be home soon (after the train from Edinburgh to London broke down outside Newcastle this morning) on your birthday. You have given us great pleasure and not a few grey hairs in your 36 years. My grandma Katy was privileged to be great grandmother to you and your brother.

Your schools survived your years with them!

We enjoyed many family holidays with you and filled countless photo albums with happy memories.

When we all read newspapers and books instead of iPads and iPhones

May you go from strength to strength in your work – promoting and upholding human rights and working with strong women who are trying to make the world a better and safer place for all human beings. Good luck – you have an uphill journey dear daughter.
