Emergency emptying of the treatment plant(septic tank) so that the expected engineers can, we hope, fix the pump. No mains drainage out here in the countryside! Just heard a news report on BBC Radio 4 from Irkutsk in the cold north of Russia. Rising poverty has led to people paying utility bills late. The sewage companies stop emptying the drains and they back up – so people start paying their utility bills again. Putin is not as popular as poverty rates rise. Strangely, grandson and I played Risk again yesterday and one of the territories on the board is Irkutsk.
