On a beautiful Mid December morning

Strangely my friend and neighbour and I keep hearing woodpeckers drumming away, a sound we usually hear from February onwards until mating time. I have also noticed some pecking between the drakes as if they are getting ready to mate with the ducks…..which usually happens in early spring. Is it a result of global warming and milder temperatures? Time will tell.
