A large order of wood, plywood sheets and roofing felt was delivered this morning. The English driver usually offloads the timber outside the gate by the side of the road but, fortunately, a different man arrived today and together we unloaded all the timber into the dry garage. This driver is Kenyan but had been living in Finland for 15 years where the cold Finnish winters had driven the family to move to England 3 years ago. What a delightful, helpful man…..the first from that depot to actually help me put the goods undercover. When he left I asked him how to say goodbye in Swahili………..it’s “Kwaheri” which he wrote on the back of the delivery note. Now Jeremy and Chris can get on with the many winter projects that they have planned at The Gables including further housing for all the new chicks born this year.
