We depend on oil to fire up the boiler “out here in the sticks”. No piped gas and no mains drainage outside of the villages – and we are half a mile away from The Village. This morning the tanker driver arrived early and filled our oil tank. I asked how many women drivers work at her depot and for the last six years she has been the only one. Now another has joined the crew. They need an HGV licence, tanker licence and a special licence to carry oil. Equality? Not yet.
