Biblical plants and animals at The Gables

Arovot (a type of willow used during the feast of tabernacles). This is growing down by the pond.

Horseradish (eaten by many as the bitter herbs during Passover). Growing abundantly near the vineyard.

Dates (one of the seven species described in Deuteronomy which grow the in the Holy Land). Grown from date pits and doing well in the poly tunnel.

And olives (another of the seven species). They are in the sheltered courtyard next to a south facing wall.

We also have a flock of Jacob sheep which are believed to be descendants of those written about in Genesis. Their DNA can be traced to the Middle East.
