Jeremy took pity on the penned up drakes and put them back with the ducks. Mrs Sitting Duck was overjoyed to have her mate returned and he is guarding her as she sits on their love nest.

Potatoes, peas and strawberries in the new poly tunnel

Flowers and pods on the field and broad beans

Giant rhubarb stalks and leaves

And rows of black currants, red and white currants

Our footpath has been obstructed by a tree felled by lightning. Never mind we walked around it and hope that the Council or landowner will remove it soon.

The expected downpour arrived just as we reached the end of our walk. The forecast is for rain all day …….again.
One of my hens has gone broody”. The hen in question is one of the Silkies that we gave our friend and neighbour last summer when we had a surplus of young chicks. Let’s hope the hen sits successfully on the mixture of Bantam and Maran eggs that we gave Sharon this morning.

Off we sped to Swineshead and the bluebell woods. Thank you Carmen for our May Day outing.

To little Spartan who I walked over to see at lunchtime.

When I returned to The Gables Jeremy had picked me a bunch of…….. salads!
