What to do at 2.30 am when you can’t sleep and think you will never walk again?

Watch the snowboarding event at the Winter Olympics and get inspired. The gold was won by a 17 year old Red Gerard (check out his backyard videos as well as his Olympic performance)and the bronze was taken by Mark McMorris

Who sustained multiple life threatening bone fractures just one year ago.

So “stop moaning Freedman”and get on with the rehab. McMorris shows that determination can overcome ridiculous obstacles. Thank goodness I am content to watch snowboarding and have no intention of competing! But it’s so cool.

  1. Believe me there is always someone up in my house. The loo is a very busy place! And Dave is like the night watchmen.
You are doing really well and
before you know it you’ll be back on your country walks. My mum had 2 hip replacements 6 weeks apart and after a few months she was on the dance floor.
You are so bright and so optimistic this is just a blip. Lots of love xx

  3. I think all post-orthopaedic surgery should include watching Olympians! I was advised to give up horse-riding and cycling so that I didn’t wear out the prothesis! In 2012 I saw the guy with the hip prothesis win gold in show-jumping. I have since gone back to doing what I love. Of course you will walk again- and do everything else. Go girl.

  4. Even though we have never met in person I know you are a woman of great determination and perserverance based on what you accomplished in Ukraine. You will certainly overcome this. Btw, my wife, who has two knee replacements, was able to easily walk several miles in NYC yesterday as we took mass transportation in to see a play. You will doing your Wednesday a.m. walks ( and sharing the glorious puctures ) in no time,Gill!
