Ful medames

Last year Jeremy planted rows of “field beans”typically used as animal fodder or as a green manure in this country.  However, in Egypt and other parts of the Middle East, field beans “Fava beans”are the main ingredient of a staple dish called Ful Medames.  We harvested and dried our beans in the summer and stored them in jars.  Now I am soaking some in water and excited to try out this recipe tomorrow.

If it is as good as it sounds I will be delighted that Jeremy has spent the afternoon planting rows of broad beans and field beans.  Watch this space.

It is barely 4.30 and the sun is going down.
