Tomorrow will be a special day

Mum will be 90 years old.  Amazing!  She told me tonight that she was astonished when she reached 77.  Her own mother died at 76 and her father at 73.  It was quite a good age back in those days and mum never, in her wildest dreams, expected to celebrate her 90th birthday.


Nor did mum expect to celebrate 65 years of marriage which she did at The Gables just three weeks before dad passed away  in 2014.  A wonderful partnership full of fun and living every day to the full.


Mum was a fantastic wife and mother, always at the school gate and always there to minister to dad and Michael and me.  She says she was never ambitious for a career and she did not resent being wife, mother, daughter and daughter in law.


But when she did return to paid work she was valued and loved by her work colleagues in the health service.  Loved and valued, as she has always been,  by her very many friends and her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Mum’s grandchildren and great grandchildren have been a source of joy but she, in turn, is a delight to them and to all who know and cherish her.


Mum we wish you many happy returns of the day and that you continue to enjoy playing bridge, watching Chelsea, reading books and newspapers, taking an interest in your family and caring about us all.

    We remember sharing her 80 birthday in israel gosh it doesn’t seem that long ago where does the time go
