Granddaughter was with us today and awoke to feed the animals with grandma. Sheer delight all round. Later grandpa and I walked her to the village playground, which is usually deserted. Today we met a mum and her four children and their two cousins – all of us relatively new arrivals from North London. Mum also said that she rarely sees another child at the playground although I am told there are quite a few kids in the village. Maybe it is the allure of tech and television or the fact that many gardens are equipped with trampolines and soccer goals that keep children within their own four walls or behind their garden fences. Whatever the reasons it seems sad that children are no longer out and about playing together as I did when I was young. Or am I just an old fogey? As granddaughter sleeps the waxing gibbous moon hangs in the clear sky and we await the full moon tomorrow night.
