Last year the geese nested in two places, one on the island and the other in a house on the banks of the pond. Although the geese were under cover they still had to get up to eat and drink and stretch their wings. The crafty corvids waited for the opportunity and then grabbed egg after egg until none were left. This year one of the geese nested in the hedge near the orchard and was guarded, some of the time, by the gander and the other two females. In spite of this her eggs were stolen until only one was left. This morning I went down to the pond and found the goose off her nest and no eggs in sight, just a broken shell. We must find a way to fend off the crows before next spring. Any suggestions (legal one only) please?
