The weather threatens rain but never mind.  The salads are nearly finished with some carrots, sorrell, Welsh onions, peas and courgettes ready to add to the lettuce.

My current favourite salad is sliced, salted cucumber dressed with dill and a white vinegar and sugar mix.

The places are laid with wine and chutney on the table.
