This little blackbird showed no fear as I approached it this morning on a London lawn. I remember when I lived in the city that blackbirds had grown so used to humans that they rarely flew away when were close by. The same with urban foxes who walk around in daylight, bold as brass. And please don’t get me started on parakeets who invaded our London bird table and scared away the smaller birds. Yes, I am all for culling the creatures to prevent the damage to crops that they inflict and the terrorising of other, native bird species.
