Kate’s kestrels

I was privileged to see young kestrels in their nest box at friend Kate’s house this evening.  Although the crows did their best to snatch the eggs when the kestrels were nesting, at least three chicks hatched and survived and are now being fed by their parents.  Soon they will have to learn to fly and to hunt for themselves but until then it is an awesome sight to see them sitting proud in the nest box awaiting the return of their parents.
