Josie went to the vet today to be spayed and also (as I suspected at the weekend) to have a termination of her early pregnancy. There were three tiny kittens inside her but, having spoken with various animal shelters, there are too many unwanted kittens hereabouts so i decided not to add to the number. So Josie is back home now, with a shaven side and she has to be kept indoors until she sees the vet again on Thursday. And Josie has found her “purr ” which is very loud indeed. Bless her.

Tough as it must have been, I applaud your decision Gillian.
She is so obviously only young herself & as you say, there are far too many kittens about already.
For those of your readers who like a statistic or two …
1 unneutered female cat giving birth to kittens who are themselves unneutered & who subsequently produce several generations of similarly entire kittens would result in approximately 20,000 more cats at the end of 5 years!
