A hare, a Yellowhammer and three well behaved dogs

On our walk today the sun came out, a hare ran across the flat field in full view and as we walked along Honeydon Road I caught sight of a brilliant yellow headed bird with brown feathers atop the hedge.  Ken suggested it might be a Yellowhammer and, on returning home and consulting the RSPB identifier, I discovered that it was indeed this red listed bird.  A great walk with the added bonus of some unexpected wildlife …….and three very well behaved dogs!

  1. The hedgerows around Backs Hill used to be packed with Yellowhammers in the days when I used to jog in Devon!
