The ancient wooden door of the village church was vandalised last week.  The idiots cut a hole and broke the lock and entered the building and stole…….a tin of sweets.  The confectionery has no doubt  been eaten (may it rot the villains’ teeth).  Sadly,  the beautiful old door (which has graced the church for maybe hundreds of years) cannot be seamlessly repaired.  For the time being the damage is covered with some hardboard and we are all very sad, especially as just recently it had been decided to open the church twice a week so that visitors could enter for quiet meditation, to see the ancient Dyer monument and enjoy the gorgeous stained glass windows.
