For over a week I have heard a woodpecker drumming on a nearby tree – marking out his territory and trying to attract a mate. One of the sounds of spring.  Another is the bleating of lambs, which are not only in our fields and barns but also in the kitchen!

Sieste hasn’t eaten her concentrates but she has drunk some of her water and she tore at the fresh hay that I brought her this morning.  Great news.  If she eats she should survive and be able to feed the favoured lamb.

Domino and her triplets are also doing well and she is ravenously eating the fresh hay so that she can produce enough milk for her three babes.
