Love a duck……or three

Tomorrow we will move the geese down to the  natural pond (thank you DEFRA for allowing birds out of their confinement) and the ducks will move into the goose house next to the new small pond.  Poultry food must be kept indoors away from wild birds and the risk of contamination with Avian Flu.  We will allow the chicks out into the orchard by day but will keep them in the very large poly tunnel at night.  However, yesterday I noticed that one of the white ducks was limping and this morning one of the apricot ducks was also lifting her leg and even baby duck seemed less sure footed than usual.  I have separated these three from the rowdy drakes and the other ducks and hope that they will heal with some R and R and loving care.  Love a duck, or three.
