We have just been out in the paddock where we had to pull a dead lamb from out of our lovely ewe, Pinky.  The lamb was too big and got stuck and Pinky was exhausted and had taken herself into the barn where she was sitting down, unable to push out the lamb.  We have left Pinky indoors tonight licking her dead offspring and we will remove it in the morning.  Our hope now is that Pinky recovers after her exhausting and horrible ordeal. This was our first experience of a night birth and the first time we have had to intervene.  A sad and sobering experience.
