B and Q and the Bushmead Buzzard

Chris is making a door for the new poly tunnel which will make it easier for us to go in and out of the entrance without the chicks escaping.  At the moment entry is through zipped panels and the silkies think it is fun to hang around the opening and sneak out as we enter.  Then ensues a chase around the outside of the tunnel until the Silkie goes in to join the other chicks.  Chris asked me to pop out to B and Q to buy three large hinges and a bolt for the new wood door.  This entails a drive along Bushmead Road which is home to a buzzard that I often see perching in trees by the roadside, just beyond the three houses.  As I drove back with the ironmongery I saw the buzzard sitting on top of a “road kill” fox and feasting on its flesh.  I pulled in to photograph him but he spread his wings and flew up into the safety of the tree.  He was so close and so magnificent (the photograph below is taken from an RSPB site) but perhaps I will get a shot of him later if I got out shopping via Bushmead road.

Image result  Chris has finished the door and the chicks now have the warmth of the poly tunnel and a view of the great outdoors and we have an easy way in and out for our morning and evening and in between visits to the birds.
