When our guests from Lviv (via Düsseldorf where they have lived for 16 years) visited at the end of December, Victoriya presented us with one of her artworks.  She has a PhD in nanotechnology and works for a large pharmaceutical company.  In her leisure time she is  involved with publishing modern ukrainian literature and has an artistic flair which she uses to make jewellery and drawings.  We put up the picture in the kitchen yesterday and when I look at it I will remember what an individual can achieve if they are just given the opportunity.
