A damp, dull day spent reading new library books

All the poultry are getting used to their new “indoor” living quarters and the Marans are still laying a coffee coloured egg each day in spite of the move.  We are a bit concerned that the duck housing is vulnerable to a fox attack so we will try to make it more secure tomorrow, when the rain ceases.  Lexy is enjoying running around the paddock and doesn’t mind the weather.  I took the opportunity to spend the day reading the whole of the new Jodi Picoult book, Small Great Things……five hundred pages in one long and enjoyable sitting.  My first Picoult and one whose subject matter is relevant to the USA today and probably everywhere. Now its on to the next book that I ordered from the library,  Norwegian Wood.  The surprise international bestseller about wood – chopping, stacking and burning the stuff.  Unusual but oddly compelling.
