Just as I was putting all the birds to bed I heard a voice coming over the hedge, “Hello, I am coming to see you”.  Only one friend has a voice with that gorgeous accent and that is Carmen, originally from Argentina but resident in Colmworth for over 20 years.  She was walking (or being dragged along) by her two dogs, Boo and Clarice.

Carmen couldn’t come in because the dogs were anxious to finish their walk but it was lovely to have a quick “catch up”.  When she had gone I returned to the kitchen to wash and prepare the beetroot, parsnips, celeriac and leeks which I had dug up this morning.
