Autumn fruits

We picked the last apples from the Bramley Apple Tree this afternoon.  Tomorrow I will make three large apple crumbles to feed friends and family who are coming to stay at the end of next week.

The we picked sloes from the hedges near to the pond (the geese looked on but neither helped nor hindered) and they will be washed and pricked and left in the freezer overnight.  Then tomorrow Jeremy will put them into a bottle and cover them with gin. They will then be shaken (not stirred) every day for the next two or three months and sugar syrup added to taste before drinking.
