There is an abundance of shallots so I sauteed some in vinegar, water, sugar and salt until soft and then poured the liquid and onions over peeled and sliced cucumbers to make a sweet and sour salad.

From my friend Joy came a novel way to cook cauliflower. Roast it in spices mixed with some sunflower oil…….turmeric, cumin, chilli pepper, salt and pepper.
