A text from a friend asked if we would be willing to take four hens and a chick from a family whose garden was too small for the five birds.  We spoke to the owner last night and agreed a handover at The Gables this evening.  The son was a bit reluctant to let go of the beautiful six week old chick but once all the birds were in the house the children and their father drove off happily.  They are beautiful bantams and we shall see how they settle in overnight.
