The field is divided into four by electric fencing. Two of the quarters give the animals access to the field shelter and two do not. In the winter the cows are fed in the barn and they spend much of their time indoors munching on hay. In summer they stroll around the field and feast on lush grass. Yesterday Jeremy moved the sheep and cows to different parts of the field. First the cows eat the long grass and then move to the next quarter. The sheep then come onto that patch and eat the shorter stems. It’s a system that works well. This morning the cows were happily sitting in the barn ruminating and keeping out of the sun. Back in home quarters.
