The Colmworth Village Garden Party is taking place on Sunday as is the Village Flower show.  So, of course, its British Summer Weather……rain, rain, rain.  We cannot let the rain stand in the way of our plans and we continued with our weekly Wednesday walk across soggy fields and under leaden skies.  I confess to enjoying summer rain as long as we also get some sunshine from time to time.

The dog roses are in flower in the hedgerows and their  pale pink blooms are just as beautiful as any cultivated plant.

In late summer and early autumn the hedges will be full of ripe, red rosehips full of Vitamin C.  Two years ago I made three jars of rosehip syrup and took a spoonful every day to ward off colds.  Last year I was lazy and now I have a summer cold!
