Yesterday sitting duck number one got off her nest, ran outside and had to be chased back inside with inducements of extra food.  Today the same thing happened and it was clear to me that she had decided that she was no longer “sitting” although I have decided to keep her in the Duck house until tomorrow.  She might not be disappointed but I am.  One other duck is sitting in the house near the kitchen and a third has made a nest under that structure.  I am not going to get excited.  Meanwhile the geese get on and off their eggs and show no signs of nesting properly. Jeremy took three of the abandoned goose eggs to put under a hen that has gone broody but they are so large and she is only a bantam bird that he has placed some small silkie eggs in the nest instead.  Do not get eggcited – the birds are very unreliable this year!
